What do you think of these pants? I found them online at forever21.com. They supposedly were a part of a suit, but the jacket was sold out. Now, I find it hard to believe that they even had a matching jacket, let alone one that would sell out. Really, who would want a floral denim jacket except for me? On the web page in which the “sold out” jacket was featured, they allowed me to sign up for a “waiting list” for when the jacket would be available again. So I gave it a try.
About two months later, I get an email from Forever 21 saying, “Good news. Your waiting list item is now available for purchase again.” I kid you not, the moment I got that email, I clicked the link, and lo and behold I landed on a page that said the item was sold out. I don’t think it’s possible that a bunch of people bought that jacket in the few seconds that the email was sent out. No way. I really think this waiting list thing is a scam to get you to click on their website again, and maybe you find other things in the meantime and order them. Because that’s what I did. Almost. When I couldn’t get the jacket I had my eye on, I browsed around the site, figuring I was there anyway, and found a few things I thought were nice. I even put them in my shopping cart. But a nagging feeling that the Forever 21 e-commerce team was playing me finally put an end to my impulse shopping, and I decided, out of principle, I was not ordering anything. It was the floral jacket or nothing.
