Thanksgiving Turkey Centerpiece

The design of this whimsical Thanksgiving floral centerpiece was passed down from my ancestors who arrived on the Mayflower. (They did the pilgrims’ laundry.)

What you’ll need:

A brick of floral foam
One bird of paradise
One palm frond
A bunch of mums
A plate

Cut the floral foam brick into a domed oval shape, keeping it flat on the bottom. Dunk it in water. Place the foam on a plate.

Begin sticking mums into the floral foam, starting at the bottom.

Cover the floral foam with mums. I’ve alternated rows of colors in the example to the right.

Insert a bird of paradise into the front of the “body,” with about 8 inches of the stem sticking out as the “neck.”

Insert a palm frond in the back of the “body.” Trim the leaves if necessary. Give thanks for this wonderful idea.
