Elton John Fong Eyeglasses: Bella Crafts Halloween Birthday Blog Hop

Boy, the title of this post is certainly a mouthful. Try saying that 10 times fast. But the project…now that’s an eyeful.

We are celebrating the one year anniversary of Bella Crafts Quarterly™ with a Halloween/Birthday themed blog hop. If you’ve never seen an issue of Bella Crafts Quarterly™, be sure to check it out online here. It’s free! There are tons of great articles about crafting, and they even had the genius insight to feature me in the fall issue.

For this blog hop, Bella Crafts Quarterly™ would like to thank the following sponsors: iLoveToCreate®, Spellbinders™, Rowlux®, and Westcott®.

graphic-45Bella Crafts Quarterly™ is also celebrating with a fabulous GIVEAWAY! Thanks to Graphic45 for this wonderful gift pack. Click here to ENTER: http://bellacraftsquarterly.com/bella-crafts-birthday-celebration-giveaway

And now, on to my project. Our assignment was to incorporate all four sponsors’ products in either a Halloween or birthday (or both) theme. Here’s what I received in the mail to work with. 1) Rowlux® Illusion Film, which is this super cool material that looks like it has wavy 3-D patterns in it, 2) Spellbinders™ M-Bossabilities Reversible Embossing Folder, 3) Westcott® Cutting tools, 4) Aleene’s Tacky 2-sided Adhesive Sheets and Tulip Fashion Glitter from iLoveToCreate®.

To make the eyeglasses, I found a free template online at firstpalette.com. Then I sprayed some Elmer’s Repositionable Mounting Spray Adhesive on the template and placed it on the back side of the Rowlux film so i could use it as a pattern.

glasses2I used the Westcott Titanium nonstick scissors to cut along the outlines. For the interior holes of the eyeglass frames, I used a Westcott hobby knife. The Rowlux film cuts very easily.

glasses3Next, I cut strips of the Aleene’s Tacky 2-sided adhesive strips and adhered one side to the eyeglass frames to make stripes.

glasses4I placed the frames and the ear pieces in the Spellbinders M-Bossabilities folder and ran it through the Spellbinders Grand Calibur machine to give the Rowlux material even more dimension.

glasses5Next, I removed the top protective layer of the adhesive strips from the eyeglass frames.

glasses6I placed the eyeglasses face down on some Tulip Fashion Glitter, pressing down to adhere the glitter to the adhesive strips.

glasses7I brushed off the excess glitter and attached the ear pieces to the frames with a small piece of Aleene’s Tacky 2-sided adhesive.

glasses8I had some extra Rowlux film left, so I decided to cut out a matching mustache, sticking it to a skewer with a glue dot.

glasses9Happy Birthday Bella Crafts Quarterly!
