For my interior design clients who have cats, the cat condo is usually the biggest eyesore. What do you do with it? That tower of shag carpeting just doesn’t match any décor. So as I was designing a living room with an Asian/Indian theme, I was tempted to get rid of the ugly cat condo altogether. But I knew if I did, the cats would take their aggressions out on the furniture. Then I thought, hey, if I can make over a condo, why can’t I make over a cat condo? Here is the spectacular result, in which I recovered the condo in oriental rugs. Now let me warn you. This was a real pain. Removing the old carpeting was grueling work, and I can’t believe I was able to put it all back together again without staple-gunning my eye out. I don’t expect anyone to actually do this project themselves, but I show it here to inspire you, and to remind you that we can create beauty in the most unexpected places.
